Our August Maintenance Programme started this week with greens being tined and 100 tonnes of sand being spread onto the 29 greens. The ideal weather for this would be dry before and during followed by rain after.
The 18 Griffin greens had this but unfortunately Thursday's torrential rain has affected the progress of the Phoenix nine. Despite this rain and the sand spreader breaking down, on the whole it has gone well. The quality of our greens has really allowed the process to go well, as the picture here of Griffin 16 with three tonnes of sand brushed in shows.
Many people question why we do this when the greens are at their best but it is this maintenance programme that allows the greens to be so good for so long throughout the year.
