Hello golfers,
Well, Zach Johnson beat the odds last week to land the Open Championship for his second Major. As much as St Andrews has previously suited the 'bomber' (past winners Daly, Woods, Oosthuizen), Johnson showed that nothing can match controlling the ball and putting well. A deserved victory from a deserving champion.
There has been much chat with regard to GPS devices being updated for the new layout of the Griffin and Phoenix courses at Cottesmore. So much so that I feel that we need to clarify where we are with these.
There are so many different brands of GPS and so many apps that it is not possible for us to know them all let alone contact them all. Leading brands such as SkyCaddie, Bushnell, Garmin and GolfBuddy have all been contacted with SkyCaddie and Bushnell updating their records immediately, Garmin and GolfBuddy do not appear to be as well equipped but will follow shortly. Other GPS companies may need to be contacted by their users or feel free to let Calum know their name and forward him a contact email address and he can forward the necessary documents to them.
In general the feedback for both course changes has been very positive. We will be moving a couple of directional and tee signs in the next few days after feedback and hope that you are enjoying the challenges that the courses offer.
Our good friends Clearwater People Solutions are hosting an Outdoor Mini Festival at Horsham Rugby Club on Saturday, 1 August. It's a charity concert in aid of the Matt Hampson and Supporting Horsham Rugby Club. The gates open at 5.00pm and there will be three amazing tribute acts. For all ticketing info go to www.summertribute.uk where you can buy them online! I look forward to seeing you all there for a wonderful night out for a great cause.

Congratulations to Peter Thomas who won the Junior Members Summer Masters last Saturday with a fantastic nett 62. Peter has been a very keen and active member at Cottesmore and thoroughly deserves the win that takes him to the top of the Order of Merit.
