Dear Members,
I am pleased to say that work on the pool remain on schedule to finish towards the end of June. The new airflow system and all the tiling within the pool has been completed and now the contractors have moved onto the surrounds. The final piece of the jigsaw will be the ceiling. We will keep you informed of all progress as it happens.
The opening of the new course layouts are however to be postponed now to the 4th July. We will dispense with the temporary green on the second of the Phoenix and temporary tee on the 3rd of the Phoenix on the 6th June. This will allow all Members to sample these holes from the 6th as part of the current Phoenix layout if they wish to do so prior to the switch of the layouts hopefully in early July. These holes will still have significant areas of G.U.R which is why we believe they are not yet ready for opening on the Griffin for tournament play. Opening them will not cause damage therefore we believe a soft opening on the Phoenix is appropriate. There have been a few areas of turf that have not responded as we had hoped and the weather and growth has been against us. We have always said we will not open until we are fully ready to do so and this remains our policy. Sentiment from Members that I have talked to regarding the delay of the opening has been broadly supportive of this view so we thank you for your continued patience.
Kind regards,
Matthew Hazelden

Swim Lessons - With the new pool scheduled to open in just a few weeks time and taking into account your views on the provision of swimming lessons here at the Club, we have decided to review our lane hire availability. We feel swimming lessons are an important provision for our Members and their children but we believe having lessons scheduled six days a week is too much inconvenience for the majority of Members who do not partake. To redress the balance we will now provide swimming lessons on early Wednesday and Friday evenings. These changes will take full effect from August 7th 2015.
Pilates Instructor - Do you know a qualified instructor? We are in need of someone to teach evening Pilates here at Cottesmore. Please get in touch with Faye or Matt in the health club for more information if you are interested in this or want any more information. 01293 861794.
Gym Challenge - New gym challenge to kick off the summer! The challenge is simple, rack up as many moves as you possibly can, using your wellness account to record the moves produced on our TechnoGym equipment between the dates of 25th May - 24th June and prizes will be rewarded to the top scorer in the men's and women's category. Good luck to all!

Congratulations to Elliott Fillion who won the 9-hole Junior Medal last weekend. Seven-year-old Elliott is one of a growing bunch of talented kids emerging from the Junior Academy and his nett 24 was enough to win yet another event - pictured in the first photo below.
Meanwhile a well-established talent, Josh Dance (second photo above), won the Singing Hills Junior Open on Tuesday with a score of 42 points. Josh, a regular in the Sussex under 14s Team, shot a level par back nine to win the event by two shots.
Well done to both boys as the Academy goes from strength to strength.
