Cottesmore hosts Sussex Seniors
Twenty teams of senior golfers from all over Sussex descended on Cottesmore Golf Club this week to compete for the Sussex Senior Captains' and Committee Shield. This year Cottesmore hosted the event for the first time and visiting teams were full of praise for the attractiveness and improvements in the course and suggested that Cottesmore host the event again next year.
After an exciting day's golf, Cottesmore's President, Paddy Dowzer, presented the Winners Shield to the Goodwood team of Trevor Littlecott, Mike Hancock, Ray Twine and Roger Herbert. This was the third year running that Goodwood have won the Shield which is competed for annually by all the major golf Clubs in Sussex. The winning team scored 83 stableford points in a fourball betterball format, six points ahead of the team from Willingdon Golf Club, with Mid-Sussex Golf Club third, just one point behind. Sweetwoods Golf Club were fourth with East Brighton and Copthorne tying for fifth place.
The leading home team of Alex Morrison, Steve Atkins, David D'Singh and Ron Vance, seen in the photo here with the Club president, Paddy Dowzer, scored an impressive 89 stableford points. However they did not compete for the Winners Shield since playing on their home course was considered too great an advantage over visiting teams.
Not sure how much of each macronutrient (carbs, protein and fat) to eat at each meal? Here is what men and women should be consuming with each meal:
Men - 2 palms of protein dense foods, 2 fists of vegetables with each meal, 2 cupped hands of carb dense food and 2 thumbs of fat dense foods
Women - 1 palm of protein dense foods, 1 fit of vegetables, 1 cupped hand of carb dense foods and 1 thumb of fat dense foods
Is this the quantity of food you consume? The great thing about using your hands to measure portion size, is that generally bigger people will have bigger hands and will therefore require more food to meet their daily requirements.
Bear in mind, the additional carbohydrate is optional… Think if you require more energy for any exercise to come or to replenish energy stores from physical activity.
Well done to Josh Greig in winning the Junior April Stableford last weekend with 38 points. A lot of the men will be happy to hear that the 11 year old has dropped another shot to 17 handicap!
A tremendous well done to Lauren Swain and her dad Gareth in winning the Junior Academy Spring Junior Adult Foursomes. Lauren has just come back from injury, and their nine hole nett total off the Phoenix blue tees was a tremendous 19…….. yes 19, two shots clear of Jake Penitcost and Elliot Fillion.
Calum needs to make the course a little tougher we think. Well done Lauren and welcome back.
