Dear Members, I am pleased to report that the new members' website is now up and running. Access to the site is via the homepage of our business website. Click on the Members' Login box at the bottom of our homepage at http://www.cottesmoregolf.co.uk.
I have attached a document (click here) which has been kindly put together for us by Donald Day, the Men's Handicap Secretary which outlines very clearly the process you need to follow to gain access to the Members' site.
There are already plenty of news articles on the site and I have posted a detailed report on the results and actions from the Member's Survey. The benefits of the site include an up to date events diary, competition results and your handicap certificate can be printed from here. You can also enter many competitions online.
We hope you enjoy the benefits of the new website and we welcome feedback on your experiences of using the site.
Kind regards
Matthew Hazelden
General Manager
Why is it we get the same winners in our major events? Many of you were at the Captain's Dinner and Prize Presentation last weekend and saw that many of the same old faces collected the silverware. Have you worked out their secret?
A) Is it because these are the players that play the most?
B) They are just lucky?
C) They are 'bandits' and have dodgy handicaps?
D) They have regular lessons and their Professional knows their games and their swings inside out?
The season is just six weeks away and below is the 2013 and 2014 Ladies Club Champion having her pre-season assessment prior to Calum giving her a coaching programme for the year to assist in attaining her 2015 golfing goals.
It is not just a few lessons that can make a difference, but the serious improver has regular lessons to maintain their games to ensure that bad habits do not get engrained and thus assuring the best opportunity for progress.
The swing never going backwards but always progressing ahead. This is how Penny reduced her handicap to 5 at the end of 2013, pretty much half what it was when she started working with Calum in 2011. Sam Passmore (h/cap 6) has also had his assessment last week, Jake Peate (h/cap 5) has his next week. Ten time Ladies Champion Iona McKean has her assessment next week in Spain when team Cottesmore goes to compete in the sun.
Have you got the message? Calum and Steve are here to help you get the best from your game. Book your assessment now! Contact us here!
How to improve your own diet in 3 easy steps
Food diary - collect a food diary for 3-7 days. This is where you write down everything you eat. You can do this with apps nowadays which will also calculate calories and macronutrient (carbs, fat and protein) breakdown and more. I would recommend MyFitnessPal as this is the app I use on occasions.
Cut out the crap - Generally speaking, we all know what 'foods' are not good for us… processed, fast foods and those high in both sugar and fat (i.e. high calorific foods). And whatever your goal, weight loss and/or to improve health, these 'foods' have got to be the first to go! I would recommend you choose just 1 or 2 things to cut out at once (this will increased your adherence, reduce the chance of relapse and increase long term success with your new diet).
Trial for 30 days and repeat - once you've recognised what you need to cut out, trial it for 30-days and then repeat step 1. Thirty days gives you long enough time to see results and to engrain new dietary habits.
Technogym Challenge - Let's move
Let's move for a better world is a worldwide campaign promoted by Technogym, dedicated to fitness facilities encouraging people to become more active in order to make a difference in their community. We have entered Cottesmore in this competition which begins on the 2nd March until 22nd March 2015. Let's move, whatever our reason: whether we want to feel good, age better, tone up, or lose weight. Join the challenge next month and let's get moving!
