News from Erik What wonderful weather over the last two days to welcome our return to golf. Tuesday I saw a number of smiling faces on both courses as well as some sombre and tired looks after the Griffin and Phoenix had taken their toll. The leading results from yesterday’s ‘new’ first rounds of the Haig and Lanka competitions were as follows: Vets Haig Trophy (Stableford) Round 1 (counts for handicap) 1 Victor Tydeman 37 pts (32)
2 Robert Sparks 34 pts (20)
3 Bill Chaffe 33 pts (21)
Vets Phoenix Lanka Trophy (Stableford) Round 1 (counts for handicap) Overall Position
1 John Oswin 19 pts (06)
2 Alex Henderson 17 pts (09)
3 Peter Allanson 16 pts (10)
Congratulations to all of you, particularly Victor Tydeman and John Oswin. Paul Dixon or Dennis Baguley will e-mail a full results sheet to CVGS Members tomorrow.
4 Clubs and a Putter Next week, on Tuesday, 6th April we have the 4 Clubs and a Putter competition on both courses, which you can sign-up for now on the Cottesmore website.
Knockouts You can also sign-up for the Phoenix singles and Griffin singles, plus the Griffin greensomes pairs and Griffin 4 ball better-ball pairs. Entries for these need to be received by 12.04.2021 (please ignore the reference to 12.04.2021 being the date on which the competitions are to be played, which is incorrect).
Notifications My thanks to those of you who have recently notified me of various matters including work being carried out (or not) on the golf courses, the use of trollies, buggies etc. as well as the road closure at Colgate. Rather than simply passing on this information to CVGS members, I will usually inform those responsible e.g. Steve Grouwstra (Director of Golf), Johnny Porter (General Manager). They are in a position to take appropriate action and can inform all relevant sections of the Cottesmore membership. However, it’s worth checking with the Cottesmore website or the Pro shop for the latest news on the playing conditions for both golf courses. Let’s hope we can all enjoy a season of safe, continuous golf days (weather permitting) with fewer restrictions as time goes by. Enjoy the rest of your week and the Easter weekend, Erik CVGS Captain 2021 |
