The new Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls are here

Helping golfers of all skill levels and swing speeds

There is always a bit of a buzz when the new Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x balls arrive in store and receiving the 2015 models has been no exception. Many of you won't need convincing about the balls' credentials but here is our take....

Litke Titleist says, 'The difference is total performance'. Put simply, it is not a case of having to choose between distance, control, durability or soft feel; here's a ball that delivers all-around performance. Furthermore, the Pro V1 and Pro V1x will provide you with performance benefits no matter what level you play at! Click here to watch a video regarding the new balls.

The first 6 people to purchase a dozen of the new Pro V1 or Pro V1x balls this weekend will get an extra packet of 2 for FREE (14 for 12)

BMW 2 Series Convertible - Launch on Saturday, 18 February

BMW has announced the third model in its 2 Series portfolio, the BMW 2 Series Convertible. It will join the 2 Series CoupĂ© and 2 Series Active Tourer in the line-up from February 2015, with prices starting at £29,180 OTR. The new car replaces the 1 Series Convertible, the most successful car in its class with global sales of more than 130,000 units, and the only one with rear-wheel drive.

The BMW 2 Series Convertible will be available with a choice of four engines, including a new 2.0-litre diesel for the 220d and, for the first time in a BMW convertible, an M Performance variant, the M235i. Fuel economy improvements over the previous model average 18 per cent. The 2 Series Convertible also brings significant improvements in passenger space and access, acoustic comfort, style, dynamism and equipment, while the ConnectedDrive services for the first time include wireless updating of navigation data.

To find out more about the new 2 series convertible or to book a space at the Launch on 28th February call Vines of Gatwick BMW: 01293 611117.

Why everybody should be doing Glute Bridges

Firstly, a 'glute bridge', also known as a 'hip bridge', is a commonly used exercise from strength and conditioning to Pilates. See picture below if you are unsure on the glute bridge exercise or click the link here to watch a video on how to perform the glute bridge

The glute-bridge is a relatively simple exercise that does not require much co-ordination which targets the gluteal muscles (that's your bum). The gluteal muscles are very important and if they are not working properly, it can increase the risk of low back pain/injury, hip and knee injuries. Many people nowadays sit down for many hours during the day. This could be due to work, but also when home and even in the gym (for example, sitting on resistance machines and exercise bikes). Sitting down and/or a general lack of physical activity is thought to contribute to weak glutes.

As most of us probably do too much sitting, exercises to target the glutes are very important to reduce the risk of low back, hip and knee injuries and pain. Additionally, if you play a sport, such as golf, for example, or you're an avid runner, I think you will find the gluteal muscles are some of the most important muscles (if not the most important muscles, due to our daily sedentary habits).

My suggestion: If you are currently not doing any glute specific exercises then start right now with the glute bridge. Perform 2 sets of 12 reps daily.

If you currently train your glutes, then it is a good idea to make sure they are active and working in a warm up. Performing one to two sets of 12 glute bridges in a warm up will help prepare the glutes for exercise to come and could even help you perform better. This includes golf and running to reducing aches and pains when walking.

I think this includes just about everyone that I recommend to perform glute bridges. Watch the videoabove on how to perform a glute bridge and then there's no excuse not to perform them daily. An added bonus of performing glute bridges is that they will help shape and tone your backside. One of my own not so secret goals!

Congratulations to Ryan Chilton who, playing with his Grandad, won the Junior Academy Winter Junior/Adult Foursomes event last Sunday with a tremendous nett score of 20. Ryan has been improving brilliantly over the last few months and is a worthy winner. The newly selected Junior Academy A Team player now has sights firmly placed on reducing his handicap to 28 and winning more silverware. Ryan and his Grandad pipped the 2014 Foursomes Order of Merit winner, William Pirie, into second place.
