Tuesday, 29 September was the Captain’s Charity Challenge on both courses. A day to remember Alan Rengger, CVGS Chairman who passed away on Tuesday, 2 June 2020. Alan for many years helped run and develop Cottesmore Vets Golf Section (CVGS). It was also a day to raise some funds for St. Catherine’s Hospice where Alan spent some of his last days. An excellent turnout of CVGS members, with a total of 73 players in the Captain’s Charity Challenge. Over 70 players which could be a record turnout. The weather was kind to us with an improving picture as the day evolved. All four seasons were experienced and it was very pleasant on the balcony after the round. As yet, I cannot say what the final totals will be for our fundraising efforts for St. Catherine’s. What I can say we have, at the time of writing this summary, gone past £2200 which is an excellent result! Member’s Corner: The President’s Trophy is scheduled for Saturday, 3 October. CVGS has entered a team and the draw for Saturday has been made. Good luck to all the players representing CVGS.
