A message from Malcolm... A total of 65 CVGS members played in the Vets Captain’s Charity Challenge which was held on the Griffin and Phoenix courses. Lots of sunshine, a tricky wind and generally good golfing conditions. A Vets favourite, still plenty of roll. Many thanks to all the members who donated prizes over the past few weeks. The membership has been very generous. So much so we have enough prizes for both our planned prize draws – Chestnut Tree House and St. Catherine’s Hospice. The latter is planned for Tuesday, 29 September. These two charity days replace our normal Seniors Open which was originally planned for Tuesday, 7 July 2020.
A few questions from members - Question - I played to-day but forgot to make a donation. Can I still donate to the Captain’s Charity - Chestnut Tree House? Erik Sorensen, CVGS Vice-Captain was also asked this question. Yes, you can. It does not matter how small. All contributions will be greatly appreciated whether it is £5 or £10 or £20 or £30. If you are a taxpayer, we get a 25% boost from the government’s gift aid scheme. All those who make a donation will be entered into The CVGS prize draws. Normal CVGS practice applies on the day – one prize per person. Erik will advise us on the final total raised and when the Just Giving Page will be closed down. To donate, just click here. For those who donated as ANONYMOUS, please let me know and I will ensure you are entered in the prize draw if you wish. Member News: Clive Weller: David Roberts sent me an update email. Clive has been discharged from the hospital. He no longer requires dialysis. He needs to rest and recover. Best wishes for Clive’s recovery. Hope to hear more in due course. Charity Days: The first, of our two charity events, took place today and I am delighted at the contributions made by CVGS members. So far, we are nearly at a grand total of two thousand pounds. Quite remarkable. I look forward to hearing the final result. Member’s Corner: Results from Tuesday, 28 July competitions Score - total Stableford points - Placing after Countback
