Vet's news

A message from Alex...

The current very wet weather has taken its toll.

More rain on Monday on already saturated courses resulted in both courses being closed on Tuesday. Our competitions were therefore cancelled.

Inter Club match requirements - The CVGS match players have signed up for the majority of the matches. Many thanks. At this stage, we are short for just one match:

West Hove at home on Wednesday, 24 June - 14 players have signed up and we need 16. Later this week, I will select the team to play at East Brighton (AWAY match) on Thursday, 12 March 2020.

Member News - We have a new CVGS member. A warm welcome to Keith Feltham.

Next Tuesday’s Competition - Tuesday, 3 March 2020 - Griffin - George Higgins Eclectic and on the Phoenix - Reg Davey Eclectic. Both are Stableford competitions, on the day as well as contributing to your Eclectic scores. This will be the final Eclectic rounds replacing the Rumble on Tuesday, 3 March.

The following week is a trophy competition - Four clubs and a putter.

Looking on the bright side, the 4 clubs and a putter is a good candidate for a carry only week should that be the case.

Continuing to wish for some decent weather soon! Perhaps even a bit of sunshine.

Ladies' news

A message from Linda...

Our previous two Thursdays have unfortunately been washouts and at the time of writing, I’m not sure what this week has in store because though we’re finally seeing some sun there seem to be quite a few showers forecast particularly later in the week. Despite the rain, the ladies still always turn up for coffee and a natter.

The Boozers Scramble is scheduled for Sunday and the start sheet has been circulated. We have a good entry this year so here’s hoping we get to play it.

Hard to believe we’re now heading into March and the real start of the golfing season. Next week is our monthly medal (qualifier) on Thursday and Saturday and the start of our annual eclectic competitions. For the 9 hole ladies, March sees the start of the PK Order of Merit Trophy on Thursday, 19 March. Later in the month, on Thursday, 26 March and Saturday, 28 March we have the Lady Captain’s charity days. Entry fees go to my charity and I provide some small prizes.

Don’t forget our first charity quiz of the year on Friday, 27 March at 7.30pm which will be taking place in the new restaurant. Teams of up to four people at just £5 ahead with food available beforehand from the bar menu for those who want to eat. These popular social occasions contribute quite a bit to the captain’s charity so please do come along and enjoy a fun evening. Entry forms are available in the Pro Shop.
