A message from the Ladies' Captain... Well, the golfing season is quickly coming to the end, sooner than I had hoped with several days recently seeing the course closed. Winter Foursomes:
With the awful weather we have been experiencing of late, I was pleased that the course was open to play the Thursday Winter Foursomes competition to conclude the competition which was started on Saturday. With the best score of 26 points on the previous Saturday, it was all to play for on Thursday. Whilst the weather was kind to us, the course was still extremely wet, again reflecting much lower scores than we are used to seeing.
The final result, with the best scores across the two days, were as follows: Iona McKean and Ruth Leatherbarrow from Saturday with 26 points, and Catherine Malins and Margaret Swatman from Thursday with 24 points.
They will go on to play in a match-play knockout final to decide the overall winner to represent the club in the Daily Mail Foursomes next year.
Good luck to both pairs. Weekly competition:
This week is our last qualifying medal competition of the season and Sunday is the Frank Davis cup, again the last cup competition of the year. Fingers crossed that the weather allows us to complete our schedule. Coming Up:
Monday, 11 November – Poppy Day Scramble (any donations for the raffle will be welcome). Saturday, 16 November – Monthly Stableford. Thursday, 21 November – Monthly Stableford & final round of the 9-hole PK Trophy. Thursday, 5 December – Turkey Trot. Saturday, 14 December – Xmas Medley. Jill Lewis Lady Captain
