They've done it again... When a product has been the centre of a range for over a decade you know it must be pretty special, right? We certainly think so and it can be said of the Srixon AD333 golf ball, which is now into its ninth generation. How does it differ? Well, it feels amazingly soft, provides even more distance and imparts a lot of spin when around the green. It's definitely worth a go, even if we do say so ourselves. |

Junior Club Championships The Junior Club Championship was played on Saturday and for the first time it was staged over 27 holes. As with the adult Championships, the main event is the Scratch. After a 2 under par round of 31 on the Phoenix in the first round, last year's Champion, Josh Greig led the way. In the Handicap event the top 7 players were separated by 3 shots with Isaac Peate and Leo Cahi at the top of the leaderboard. Following a short break with the youngsters tucking into burgers, chips and cake, the Griffin hosted the second round.It was always likely to be a battle between Josh and Peter Thomas for the Scratch and after both shooting rounds of 74, the small lead Josh had from the morning round was enough for a successful defence of the trophy. 1st - Josh Greig (31+74)
2nd - Peter Thomas (34+74)
3rd - Lucy Pigram (39+90) The Handicap event was forecast to have a new name on the trophy with Leo Cahi, Caelan Dhami and Joseph Byrne all recording some great results during the summer. It was the old guard, however, that stood firm and on this occasion Peter Thomas won on countback from Josh Greig by virtue of his better round on the Griffin. 1st - Peter Thomas (32+71)
2nd - Josh Greig (30+73)
3rd - Lucy Pigram (31+73) Next up for the Juniors is a semi-final in the Covey Cup at Haywards Heath and finals day in the Jack Langmead trophy at Dyke Golf Club.

This season we have introduced a "best 3 of" competition to run from March to October for each of the monthly and midweek medals and stablefords.
There is no charge to enter and everyone who takes part in any of these monthly events is automatically entered for the series.

Competition results
Thursday was our monthly medal qualifying competition with the weekend Ladies having played on Saturday. The overall results were as follows:
Silver and overall winner on countback from Heather Skinner was myself with a nett 75 and Bronze winner was Margaret Swatman with nett 78.
The 9 hole Ladies played their Summer Aggregate competition. The results for this month were as follows:
Category 5 – Sue Rogerson with 23 points on countback from Valerie Keating
Category 6 – Barbara Munro with 17 points.
This competition is played from April – October where the best 3 scores are aggregated at the end of the period to establish the winner. With only one month remaining, the overall leader at present is Caroline East, closely followed by Jan Hemsley and Barbara Munro. Good luck to all the Ladies with a final push to improve their overall position in October.

Captain – vs – Vice Captains Challenge
On Friday, we enjoyed the Captain – vs – Vice Captains challenge, in which the Captains team won. Whilst always played in good spirit, I know the Vice Captains team are hoping to improve their overall position, with one last challenge remaining. The aggregate score presently stands at 5 ½ - 2 ½ to the Captains team. |
Presidents Team Trophy
On Monday, Penny Gaunt, Christine Knight and Viv Lyons, represented Cottesmore in the Presidents Team Trophy. Whilst rain was forecast, they were lucky to get away with one short, heavy shower and had an enjoyable day. Congratulations to the team on finishing mid field out of 44 teams.

Weekly Winners After a very wet Monday it was a cold but dry start to this Tuesday. However the sun was soon out and conditions quickly changed to warm and pleasant. The courses continue to be in excellent condition and provided the opportunity to score well. This week we played round 7 of the Haig Trophy on the Griffin and the Lanka trophy on the Phoenix. The format is individual stableford, with the best 4 scores over the season counting as the score for the trophy. Congratulations to Edward King, David Sellwood and Steve Watson who all reduced their playing handicaps today.
