Menndt Vase…
Wednesday 8 May saw the inaugural match between the Men's Section and the Vets for this new trophy.
The name is devised from an anagram of Men and Vets. Captains Martin Bolton Smith and Steve Atkins faced a difficult decision early on as the rain lashed down. However, the decision to go ahead with the match was well rewarded as the rain stopped after an hour of the morning round and defied forecasts by not reappearing.
The match was played on the Phoenix with a Ryder Cup style format with 6 greensomes matches played over 9 holes in the morning followed by 12 singles matches again over 9 holes after lunch. And what a match it proved to be as the scoreboard shows.
|
It is many congratulations to the Men's Section who won by the narrowest margin in a keenly fought match. Possibly Martin as a non playing captain and doing a Seve by appearing all over the course was the difference that drove his team to victory. Club president presented the trophy and a symbolic jacket (it is now back in Paddy's wardrobe) to the winning captain.
The match was played in terrific spirit and both Martin and Steve would like to see this as a permanent fixture in our calendar.

Danny Mulholland Trophy
Full sun and brilliant blue skies augured well for this week’s competition - the Danny Mulholland Trophy on the Griffin course while on the Phoenix it was an individual stableford. A clean sweep...
With division matches well under way, Cottesmore Ladies have lots to be proud of. Division 2 played against Bognor getting their revenge at home against a strong team, winning 4-3. Division 3 were also at home, again getting their revenge, by winning 4 ½-2 ½. Our first friendly match was played away against Bletchingley and they were also successful and came away with a 1 ½- ½ win. Well done to all the teams. What fabulous results!

The grand opening....
On Tuesday, Heather Skinner, who was Lady Captain for 2018, together with some other lady members, attended the official opening of the garden at Langley Green hospital, which has primarily been funded by the Ladies of Cottesmore in their fund raising for Heads On.
The garden has been named ‘Phoenix garden’ and a plaque has been erected in the garden to acknowledge the ladies’ contribution. The garden whilst still in its’ infancy is expected to grow from strength to strength which will make a huge difference to the residents. Cottesmore ladies should be proud of their efforts to raise these funds.
Well done Cottesmore ladies!

The hottest picks this summer |
Is it just us or has this year's clothing been the best we've had in-store for a few years now? Either way, there's no doubting that you'll be looking (and feeling) great on and off the course throughout the summer with some of these fantastic picks... |
| Sonoran polo | We had to include the Sonoran polo as one of our top picks this season and it's not hard to see why. Boasting a clean, fresh look, the crease-resistant fabric will ensure you are always kept in tip-top condition.
|
| Douglas polo | If a traditional look is more your style, then you can’t go wrong with PING's Douglas polo. This is the ideal top that is perfect for wear on and off the course, whilst offering the perfect fit thanks to its stretch properties.
|
| Fracture pullover | Our final pick is the pullover that really has the lot: Fracture. Both of the stunning colourways will ensure all eyes are on you, whilst its lightweight material drapes over you for complete comfort.
