This year's Poppy Appeal Scramble will be taking place on Monday 10th November. It is open to teams of three, either all men, all ladies or mixed. There will be prizes for each category, and a raffle on the day. Entry is £5 per player and sign-up sheets are on the various notice boards around the club. You can enter either a team or as an individual where you will be put into an available team. Donations for prizes or the raffle would be gratefully received by Paddy Dowser, Alan Rengger or David Abbott.
New Gym Challenge... Total Calorie Burn: Men Vs Women
Watch out for our new gym challenge. It's Men vs Women; whoever can burn the most calories (as a group), only 23 days remaining. You can log any physical activity to your wellness account and the calories will be added to your group's total.
The men have got off to a fast start and are currently leading the challenge. However, there is a long way to go. But from what I have seen so far, the women are determined to catch up!
You may have received an email already to sign up. Follow the link to www.mywellness.com, sign into your account and join in. Alternatively, sign up using any of the cardiovascular machines in the gym. Any problems with joining this challenge, speak to a member of the health club team.
Congratulations to Ben 'Champ' Powell who pipped his friend and rival Isaac Peate to win the Junior Academy Championship last Sunday.
Many players had personal bests on the day, however the top players all appeared to have a tough time of it with Ben, Isaac and Lucy Pigram all performing below their best. However, it is the sign of a great champion to win when not at your best.
Yusuf Husain won the under 13s; Joseph Byrne won his fifth under 9s title; Holly Swain pipped Lucy Pigram to the girls title but it was five year old Leo Cahi (pictured here) who stole the show in reaching the seventh tee in his 36 shots to win the under 7s.
