The Peter Betteridge Trophy Tuesday we competed for the Peter Betteridge Trophy. A pairs competition drawn on the day, we had a magnificent 36 members out on the Griffin and 16 on the Phoenix. The club had opened the Tap Inn outside the Pro shop so that we were able to enjoy a pre-round coffee and bacon roll as well as some refreshment after play before we headed to the Black Swan for the official round up of the day’s activities. The club staff have been wonderful in their helpful approach to the current situation. Many thanks to Roger Birchmore for organizing the Phoenix order of play and to Alex Henderson for dealing with the Phoenix cards at the end of play. Alan Rengger had done a brilliant job getting the Griffin start sheets completed before play and also managed to collect monies and collate the Griffin competition results – THANK YOU!. We have also tried to arrange sign up for next week well in advance but if you haven’t done so, visit the CVGS website or email Alan, Bill or Steve and we will fit you in.

Duffer of the week This week there were two contenders: 1.Terry Davey for an exquisite tee shot on the 5th hole that saw his ball hit the ladies tee marker and fly backwards finishing 40 yards behind him on the 4th fairway! 2.Steve Atkins for a beautiful tee shot on the 17th hole – pity about the tree stump that interrupted the flight and redirected the ball straight into the lake!!
Winner announced next week!
