Two days ago I presented to all three Committees our Vision 4 Golf at Cottesmore. All the information presented is HERE within this article. For those that wish to obtain further clarification on any points, Calum and I will be hosting a Q&A session at the Club on Tuesday 26th August at 6.30pm. We have looked long and hard at many different solutions to fight against the market forces currently engulfing the golf industry and we believe we have found the best way forward to guarantee the future success for golf at Cottesmore. We hope you agree.

The Captains' Charity Pro Am
Come and support your Captains in this great day!
On Friday 12th September, Cottesmore will again be hosting the Captains' Charity Pro Am. This annual event has been a great day out for a number of years and all proceeds go to our Captains' charities. For 2014, the Men's, Ladies and Vet's charities are as follows - Rainbow Trust Children's Charity, Chestnut Tree House Children's Hospice and the Prostate Project respectively. We already have a host of sponsors to assist in the event with a few spaces left, so if you would like to be a part of this great event and are not able to play please contact one of your Captains or Calum in the Pro Shop .

Hopefully you will be able to play and please note that we only have room for 30 teams. Entry Forms are available here. Just fill in your three team names and drop the entry form into the Pro Shop with cheque. We will supply the professionals, unless you wish to bring your own. Primal training might sound a bit wacky, yet it is actually quite a simple method to base your exercise programme on. It's based upon movement patterns that the "primal" man would have performed. All you need to do is follow the 8 primal movements. Below I have listed these movements and given you an exercise to get you started.
Bend - kettlebell/DB Deadlift
Squat - goblet squat
Push - single hand cable chest press
Pull - cable bent over row
Rotate - hz cable rotation
Lunge - forwards lunges
Gait - running/walking
Brace - Pallof press
Techno Gym - Week commencing 15th September is when the new Techno gym equipment is being installed. We will keep you posted in due course with regards to the gym closure during this period.
BBQ - Members BBQ Friday 22nd August starts at 18:00. I'm looking forward to enjoying some great food and seeing you all there!
Ground Under Repair (G.U.R) There have been a couple of questions regarding ground under repair this week so please note:
'Ground under repair is any part of the course so marked…'
'When the margin of ground under repair is defined by a line on the ground, the line itself is in the ground under repair.'
…..there may be 'a Local Rule' prohibiting play from ground under repair……..'
We at Cottesmore do not have any areas of ground under, currently, that play is prohibited from. This means that you can either play the ball as it lies, or drop the ball in accordance with Rule 25-1b. Be aware that as it can be a local rule that relief is mandatory - this may or may not be the case at other golf clubs.
