Welcome to this week's newsletter. This week we have The Masters, Galvin Green and product in the spotlight.
Enjoy the read! |
A word from the pro… It’s here. The US Masters is finally here. The week I look forward to the most in the golfing calender. You will not be able to move me from the sofa over the next few evenings - sorry Faye. The draw has turned up some very exciting groups for the first two days.
Notables include Matsuyama, Kizzire and Casey. Tiger, Leishman and Fleetwood; Bubba, Stenson and Day; Mickelson, Fowler and Kuchar. It will be very hard to pick a winner, but my choice is big Phil Mickelson and my outsider pick is Charl Schwartzel. I am sure you will all enjoy the golf this week and let’s hope it signals the start of our season over here.
|
Looking great!
On a different note I would like to give Ben and his Team a pat on the back for what has been a terrible winter. Let’s hope the weather picks up really soon and we can reap the rewards from his efforts. With the sun in the sky the course is looking great. Perfect drying weather.

Something 'Green'...
As The Masters is on this week we are offering a ‘Green Special’. Anything green in the shop including sale items will have an extra 15% OFF until 6pm Sunday. That includes the Motocaddy bags, Galvin Green tops and snoods, even tees. Maybe you have had your eye on the new Galvin Green range which has recently arrived! Why not come in and see what we have.

Titleist AP1 - Push your game to new heights
Launch it high and land it soft with a lower CG and refined tungsten weighting for each individual iron. Hit longer shots that hold the green more often, putting you in better scoring positions.
|
Distance you can depend on Titleist AP1 irons not only deliver more distance, but also produce more consistent gapping throughout the set. Hollow-body long irons and undercut cavity mid and short irons mean you’ll be able to maximise carry distance for every shot.
|
Closer is always better
A higher MOI gives you more room on the face to hit it pure. An improved leading edge creates better turf interaction, for more consistent contact. Together they let you hit every shot closer to your target. |
Titleist AP2 irons - The choice of those who know
Titleist AP2 irons feature Tour-proven performance, validated by the best players in the world. Both speed and MOI have been maximised to provide total control and distance anyone can appreciate.
|
An instrument of precision
Greater forgiveness and stability are achieved through precise perimeter tungsten weighting and a unique co-forged construction. Attack even the most challenging pin placements with more confidence than ever.
|
Stunning looks, winning feel
The Tour player-preferred look, sound and pure forged feel wrapped up in one unmistakable package. Now with a refined leading edge for more efficient turf interaction and pure feel through impact
|
Titleist AP3 irons - The player’s distance iron
The all-new 718 AP3 irons truly represent the best of both worlds. Everything we’ve learned from creating and advancing our AP1 and AP2 irons merged to create our longest, fastest player’s iron ever. It’s the player’s distance iron.
|
Specialised in speed
A hollow-blade construction combined with L-Face inserts launches long and high with shot-stopping spin – even on longer shots.
|
Formidable forgiveness
With AP3 you get the off-center performance of a game improvement iron packed into a club that delivers the feel of a player’s iron. Precise when you pure it, and forgiving when you don’t.
|
Distance has a whole new look
Look down and you’ll see a player-preferred shape that inspires confidence. Feel even better knowing this beauty of an iron possesses all the distance and forgiveness you demand to play your best.
|
Why not take advantage of our swing studio and get custom fitted for Titleist amazing range for 2018. |

Ladies latest news...
I am happy to say the ladies played their Winter Greensomes competition last Thursday in challenging conditions the weekday leaders were Brenda and Catherine. Well done ladies. However, the weekend competition saw even harder conditions, but this did not stop our winning pair Ruth and Lucy from posting a fantastic 36 points. Very well done! Our April Medal is on the 5/4, and our Division 3 team are away to Royal Eastbourne. Good luck girls!
'Girls Golf Rocks' is hosting 40 girls at Cottesmore on Friday 6/4, please come along and support/help on the day 9.30 till 12.30. Meg is busy organising our, hopefully, first Captain Vice Captains Challenge, 9/4, please let it stop raining!
It's the last chance to enter my Captain's Charity Day, 14/4 & 19/4, please let me know if you can play.

HAIG TROPHY Round 1 (Designated as a non-qualifier today) We only had 13 members in the first round of the Haig played on the Griffin. It was a dull day and the course was very wet underfoot with several bunkers resembling rock pools at the seaside. Despite the low numbers and challenging conditions some reasonable scores were returned and the results were as follows.
5th Geoff Chalfont 33 points 4th Bob Sparks 35 points 3rd Bill Chaffe 36 points Runner Up Wes Lourens 37 points Winner Paul Cox 38 points
|
LANKA TROPHY Round 1 (Qualifier today)
With only 7 members in the first round of the Lanka Trophy played on the Phoenix everyone must have thought they were in with a chance of finishing in the winners frame. We welcomed a new member to the CVGS today – Brian Vennard and he managed a fifth place finish to mark his debut round. The full results are as follows: 5th Brian Vennard 8 points 4th Edward King 13 points 3rd Mick Bell 14 points Runner Up High Masterson 15 points Winner Bob Booth 16 points
Well done Bob! |

Finally… Next week we have England V ROI results and discuss the talking points from what will be an epic first major.
|
Put your name up in lights |
It only comes around once a year and it’s that time again - Masters week! The first Major of the year takes place at Augusta National this week, which we always take as a sign that the season is getting underway. With this in mind, we have one question for you: are you ready to play your best golf this year? |
Maximise your potential We've all sat looking at the honours boards in a clubhouse before, admiring the one name that appears to be on most and thinking 'wow, they must be pretty good!' Well, how good would it feel if that name up in lights was yours? If you come and speak to us we can talk about your strengths, weaknesses and goals for this season and look at the best way to help you achieve them, whether that’s a one-off fault-fixer lesson, regular sessions to aid your consistency or perhaps a look at your equipment. |
