Word from the pro…

I would like to thank everyone for supporting Cottesmore for another year.

It is always a pleasure to see you all coming up and enjoying what we have to offer here. I especially love to take the opportunity to get out there and play a round with you once in a while.

With that in mind, the pro shop are looking to start a new roll up on a Friday afternoon, which will not only give members the chance to meet and play with new people but also give us pros a run for our money (not hard).

This is one of many ideas that are in the planning stage for a big 2018 and I look forward to all of you being a part of it!

Course closure

This week has been a wet and miserable one which has resulted in the golf courses being closed.

It is never nice to close the courses, but the extreme weather has given us a chance to give them a well deserved rest after what has been a very busy year.

Hopefully the weather will brighten up for us and we can get out there sooner rather than later.

Ladies report

For the first time this year the golf competition was cancelled due to adverse weather forecast and what a good move that turned out to be, it poured! However everyone turned their energies to enjoying themselves with the festive side of our annual Turkey Trot.

The big news from Canine Partners is that they hope our puppy, ‘Morley’ will be chosen from one of the three or four litters expected over Christmas and the New Year. We should know more in a few weeks. The puppy and its initial training will be financed by the £3000 raised from events in the first six months of this year and £2000 given by CHLOES. More money will be going to Canine Partners in January raised by the Ladies Section along with a further £1000 which has been given by CHLOES.

Canine Partners is a registered charity with their Southern Training Centre at Heyshott near Midhurst. The charity’s mission is to transform the lives of people with physical disabilities by partnering them with assistance dogs. These amazing dogs bring a greater independence and quality of life to their partners, offering security, companionship, and practical help with everyday household tasks. These life-changing dogs also provide psychological and social benefits including increased independence, confidence, social interaction and self-esteem.

The charity receive no government funding and rely solely on donations from the public and legacies to help finance the £20,000 per dog it takes to create and maintain a partnership. The charity has created more than 700 partnerships across the UK since it was founded 27 years ago and 44 of the 388 currently in action today live in Sussex.
