High Intensity Interval Training (H.I.I.T) is a trend within the industry this year, with well known programmes such as Insanity bucking the trend. HIIT is basically alternating bouts of high intensity exercise with bouts of low intensity/recovery.
It is essential that technique is correct, and this is where programmes such as Insanity fail. Attending an exercise class led by an instructor is the best place to start as a newbie, as correct form and appropriate exercise progressions can be implemented. With someone more advanced, an instructor and other members of the class can help motivate and push you harder and further than ever before.
HIIT is one of the most efficient methods to lose weight, tone up and improve cardiovascular exercise. Yes, much better than slow, steady state cardio!
Additionally, you can burn even more calories after a HIIT session, compared to steady state cardio, further increasing weight loss and improving body composition; perfect as the summer is approaching and I want to look my best on the beach.
Thursday's H.I.I.T Class at 18:30-19:00. Look forward to seeing you there! Please sign up in the Health Club or call 01293 528256.

Rule 12-2 Lifting Ball for Identification
The responsibility for playing the proper ball rests with the player. Each player should put an identification mark on his ball.
If a player believes that a ball at rest might be his but he cannot identify it, the player may lift the ball for identification, without penalty. The right to lift a ball for identification is in addition to the actions permitted under Rule 12-1.
Before lifting the ball, the player must announce his intention to his opponent in match play or his marker or fellow competitor in stroke play and mark the position of the ball. He may then lift the ball and identify it, provided that he gives his opponent, marker or fellow competitor an opportunity to observe the lifting and replacement. The ball must not be cleaned beyond the extent necessary for identification when lifted under Rule 12-2.
If the ball is the players ball and he fails to comply with all or any part of this procedure, or he lifts his ball in order to identify it without having good reason to do so, he incurs a penalty of one stroke. If the lifted ball is the player's ball, he must replace it. If he fails to do so, he incurs a 2 shot penalty in stroke play and loss of hole in matchplay.
Men's Section
Paul Field scored a magnificent 44 points to romp home in first place in the Help for Heroes Stableford on Sunday.
Paul attributed his success to lots of practice and a sore shoulder - thus confirming the old adage "beware the injured golfer".
In second place on countback was Mick Stacey forming a select group of five players who finished on 38 points. All together five players will be put forward for the National Golf Club Challenge at Turnberry.
As well as Paul and Mick, Steve Walsh, Dave Smythe and Rob Flack will comprise the Cottesmore team if we qualify. Six players scored two's the highlight of which was Alex Burton's eagle on the sixteenth. A big thanks to those who donated their two's money to the charity. Altogether with entry fees, raffle money as well as other donations we raised a magnificent £428 for Help for Heroes. Thank you to everyone who donated prizes on the day.

Matches - A team from Addington Court visited us last Wednesday (11th June) for our third home match this year. Unfortunately, the excellent condition of the course with its faster greens proved too much for them, and we continued our winning streak at home, ending up 8-0 winners.
We are away at Slinfold on Thursday 26th June. The team is on the board, and will those selected, please confirm availability by ticking the list or emailing me. A couple more names will be appreciated to provide some reserves, please let me know if you can be available.

Commiserations to Division 2 who played a very tight match at home to Willingdon on Wednesday. A great birdie putt on the 18th by Ruth Leatherbarrow secured her a half and Viv Lyons also putted well on the final green to get her half; however, unfortunately it wasn't enough and we lost 4-3.
Special thanks to Angela, who again acted as captain on the day. Wishing all our division teams 'good luck' next week for their final matches: Div. 3 are at home to Goodwood on Monday, Div. 2 are away to Haywards Heath on Thursday, and Div. 1 are at home to West Sussex on Friday. 'Good Luck' also to our Kathleen Rider team - Penny Gaunt, Pat Johns, Linda Atkins and Irene Matheson, who are playing that particular competition at Copthorne on Tuesday.
