As you can see, despite the wet weather, there is still much going on at Cottesmore with the old Golf Shop no more. Can you even recognize it? 

Those of you who have been members for 20 years may even still see it as the old 'Tap Inn'. One thing is for sure, there will not be a lot to recognize in 2 weeks time when we finish.

...And once that is complete, there will be a short break until April when we will be building an extension onto the back of the shop where we will have an indoor golf performance studio. This studio will be one of first in the country to house the new Foresight Sports GCQuad which was just launched on the 24th January at the PGA show in Orlando. Calum has been using ForesightSports GC2 these last 3 years in its mobile form but this will be taking us to another level, housing the technology in the studio to give unmatched ball and club performance. Whatever it is that you or your PGA pro needs to know, we can provide it.

Key coaching ingredients: Club Speed, Angle of Attack, Club Path, Face to Path, Loft and lie at impact, Ball speed, Launch Angle, spin rates etc are all there to see, meaning that you no longer have to take your coaches word for it; it will be there for you to see, before and after i.e. you will be able to monitor your own improvement. Of course with these wet winters it will also allow us to coach and offer a practice facility indoors.


 

Scramble Time... 

The forecast hadn't been good, but on Sunday the weather behaved itself and the "Winter Scramble" took place. Under grey skies we had 19 teams participating in this, the second in a run of four Texas Scrambles leading us towards the start of the season in March. 

We had an unusual two-tee start, using the 15th as the second starting point. This enabled us to reduce the overall competition time significantly without impacting the casual golfers who had started their rounds before the competition got underway. 

It was nice to see some new members playing in the event and I hope to see you regularly in the coming months. 

It was, however, familiar faces that swept all before them, with a magnificent -10 gross score, resulting in a nett score of 56.7. Congratulations to Mike Frei, Ed Whiffin and Neil Cockerill. (Pictured hiding in the dark with our club captain.) 

Team Peate (Andy, Issac and Jake) came a close second with Alan Greig, Josh Greig and Greg Lewis just pipping my team into third place.
