Cross Country Scramble

A great day was had by all in the inaugural Cross Country Scramble on Monday 2nd January. 98 players took part in the 12 hole fun event where Mark Waddell, Richie Moodie, Les Mitchell and Nigel Gray squeezed ahead of the field to take first prize. 

A special day was also had by Barry Peate who got to play with his son Andy and 2 grandsons Isaac and Jake. The early signs are this event could become a regular fixture.

Burns Night At Cottesmore

The Mid Sussex Caledonian Society is holding its 2017 Burns Night at Cottesmore on Sat 21st January 2017. 

After the dinner, the Immortal Memory will be proposed and the evening will end with Scottish Country dances (optional!) in the Barn Room. A number of places are being held for Cottesmore Golf and Country Club members. The menu for the Dinner is- 

Traditional Haggis with Neeps and Tatties 
OR 
Vegetarian Haggis Option 

Duo of Lamb Slow cooked shoulder and rump served with fondant potato, peas and mint shallots and finished with a red wine gravy 
OR 
Fillet of Trout set on an herb risotto served with a prawn and white wine sauce 
OR 
Vegetarian Main Course Crêpes filled with wild mushrooms and cream cheese, finished with parmesan shavings and topped with an herb crust 

All main courses will be served with a vegetable side dish of greens 

Cranachan with Whisky and a shortbread biscuit 
OR 
Lemon Posset with lemon curd and shortbread Coffee and mints

Andy Peate, Isaac Peate, Garth Cahi and Leo Cahi took the honours in the Junior Academy Christmas Scramble just before Christmas but it was Joseph Byrne who shone above all at the end of year awards. 

Having won three Order of Merit events throughout the year enroute to winning the Academy Order of Merit, Joseph picked up the 2016 player of the year, just pipping Foursomes Order of Merit winner and Autumn Championship winner Will Pirie.
