Another good week for Cottesmore's ladies section. On Tuesday, Jenny Frei and Irene Matheson played in the Grand Final of the PING 4BBB at Gainsborough GC, Lincolnshire. They came 10th out of 49 clubs from all over the UK with 39 points.
Closer to home, our team of Penny Gaunt, Ros Bird and Viv Lyons (pictured here) played in the SCLGA President's Team Trophy at Royal Ashdown Forest GC, West Course. This is a seniors stableford team event with the best two scores counting on each hole. It was all very tight with the winners and runners-up both scoring 77 points. We had 76 points but were pipped on countback and finished tied fourth place.
On Thursday the September Medal Silver Division was won by Iona McKean with a nett 72 - her gross score of 78 set a new course record! The Bronze Division winner was Naomi Zoob with a nett 74 and the 9-hole Griffin Stableford winner was Yvonne Burgess.
Away from the course, five ladies - Iona McKean, Ros Bird, Catherine Malins, Viv Lyons and Sue Taylor - joined Ruth Leatherbarrow in a 25km sponsored walk for her captain's charity, Help Our Wounded Royal Marines. So far they have raised a magnificent £850 and donations are still coming in. Great effort!
