This is your last chance to trade in your old battery and get £25 off a Motocaddy Lithium or LitePower Lithium.
It's most frustrating when your battery dies on you half way through a round and you are left pushing the trolley for the remainder of the round. It's one of a number of reasons why so many golfers are opting to go for a Lithium battery - it's basically a more reliable and cost-effective option than Lead-acid equivalents. If you're not convinced, watch this short video. You soon will be!

Summer Coaching 3 took place last weekend with the assistance of Steve and Sam and we now have a break from the coaching weekends with Junior Days on 18th, 24th, 28th May and 1st June.
There is a 4 day Golf Camp over the half term break with a Kids Fun Golf Day on Thursday 29th before getting back into the Summer Coaching on Saturday June 7th.
Josh Greig represented the Academy well, yet again, last weekend with his second place finish in the Men's Spring Meeting. Another very solid performance in this 36 hole medal event.
This Sunday 18th there is a Monthly Stableford for the Junior members on the Griffin. The first tee time is at 10.30am and entry is £1.
Also on Saturday 24th May we have the second Order of Merit event of the year, the Junior Spring Meeting. The first tee time for this competition is 10.30am. There is a £2 entry fee for this competition.
If you would like to enter either of these competitions then please feel free to email Sam P on proshop@cottesmoregolf.co.uk or put your name down on the entry sheet on the junior notice board.
Congratulations to Sam Smitherman who passed his PGA level 2 coaching last week. Never an easy thing to do and with this and his year 2 exams (results in July) out of the way Sam can now focus on the season ahead. Sam celebrates with going on holiday next week for some much deserved relaxation.
While Sam is away sunning himself, Calum and Steve take on the challenges of The Wildernesse Golf Club next Monday in the second of The PGA in England (south) Order of Merit events. Both have had their distractions of late but both will be trying to improve on their Kent Open efforts.
Ball at Rest Moved (Rule 18)
Generally, when your ball is in play, if;
You accidently cause it to move
You lift it when not permitted, or
It moves after you have addressed it
Add a penalty stroke and replace your ball.
There are exceptions to this but the above is generally true. For exceptions please please see Rule 18 in rule book.
Men's Section
A marathon 36 hole Medal played under testing conditions was won by Terry Vanhinsbergh, who also picked up the scratch prize. Second was young Joshua Greig with a nett 148, on countback from Steve Brice. Second in the scratch was Dan Smythe who also won nearest the pin on day 2. Dave Salmon picked up the nearest the pin on the 12th hole on day one.
Surprisingly the two's sweep was not won despite players having a double chance and this will carry forward to the Centenary Jug on Bank Holiday Monday. So if you have not entered this competition please do so using the PSI.
Vets' Section
We have played 2 matches in the last week. Last Friday (9th May), Slinfold came to Cottesmore for the first time and, despite including some former Cottesmore members in their team, were soundly beaten 6-2 to retain our unbeaten home record. The return match at Slinfold is on Thursday 26th June.

Ladies Section
Matches - Commiserations to Penny and her Div. 1 team - they lost their match on Friday away to The Dyke (5.5-1.5) and to Fee and her team who lost their friendly fixture away at Chichester on the same day.
Also to Irene and the Morrice Fours team who lost at Eastbourne Downs (2:1) on Saturday. I was part of that team and have never played in such windy conditions in my life - gusts of 60-70 mph, trolleys continually blown over, balls oscillating on the greens and blown into all kinds of trouble! Congratulations to Margaret and her Div. III who won 5-2 at home to Cowdray yesterday.
All good wishes to Fee and her team for the friendly fixture against Cowdray on Friday and to Margaret and her Div. 3 team away at Ham Manor next Monday.
May Medal - Last Thursday was another wash-out, with Christine's Coffee Club re-instated for most people, so the results from the Sunday competition stood: Iona winning the silver division with a nett 78 and Svetlana again victorious in the bronze division (she was the only player!) but this month with a nett 90!
