Well done to our Ladies Morris Fours Team who are through to the quarter-finals after their 2-1 win against Brighton & Hove last week. The team of Iona McKean, Brenda Williams, Jill Lewis, Heather Skinner, Irene Matheson and Christine Knight just pipped Brighton & Hove as each match finished on the 18th green. Their opponents on 5th July will be West Hove and we wish them well.

Congratulations too to Harry Reed, who won the Sussex Captains' event at Mannings Heath on Tuesday, with Terry Vanhinsburgh coming third. This is three years running that Cottesmore has won this prestigious event.

Well done to Dustin Johnson who at long last got his hands on a Major championship trophy. It has been a long time coming with a lot of people thinking (myself included) that he was a beaten man and like Westwood and many others, there were just too many scars. It was fantastic to see him lift the U.S. Open trophy and even better to see them play a course where the greens were toughened up to make them a great leveler. For once the man who hit the most fairways came out on top and dispelled the old adage 'Drive for show and putt for dough'.
