Well done to Fee Drew and Christine Knight who won the Ladies Granny Trophy and Non-Granny Trophy last week. Also, a quick mention to Junior Academy A Team player Lucy Pigram who had another good round with the ladies and further reduced her handicap to 30.
It's Captain's Day on Sunday which I'm sure many of you are looking forward to.
This is followed by a light coring of the Griffin course on Monday afternoon/Tuesday, which will seed our new 10th green as its build progresses. If you have no idea what I am talking about, please see last week's newsletter here.
Three events for the juniors this month:
- Sat 18 Jun - 10:30am - June Stableford
- Sun 19 Jun - 1:00pm - 9-hole Medal on the Phoenix course
- Sun 26 Jun - Summer Cup
To enter any of these events, put your name down on the sheet in the shop foyer or email Sam at proshop@cottesmoregolf.co.uk.
Well done to William McGirt who won the Memorial Tournament last week for his first PGA Tour victory. Rory will have been happy with his performance, showing great improvement in his total driving and putting stats. This will put him in a good mental state for next week's US Open at the treacherous Oakmont. However, this is Oakmont, where Arnold Palmer once said "You can hit 72 greens (in regulation) at Oakmont and not come close to winning" and Johnny Miller said that Oakmont's greens are the greatest test for a player's putting ability. I guess we will be seeing a lot of Spieth and Day next week then. I cannot wait.
