In the Pro Shop we currently have selected Odyssey putters at half price!
The new Titleist NXT Tour and DT TruSoft balls are now in stock, which also means that last year's models are reduced for those of you that like a bargain! We have the Titleist DT SoLo balls for only £14 per dozen.
The men's re-scheduled Winter Scramble is being held this Sunday, 14 February. How else would a man spend Valentine's Day? I am sure they will make it up to the ladies in the evening.
Please all note that we have changed a couple of the local rules this week:
Rule Change 1 - For the winter rules, given how wet the ground is, we have allowed preferred lies through the green (in the rough as well as fairways). You still need to go through the proper procedure of marking your ball and only placing once, but this should make your game a little fairer and also assist in looking after the courses.
Rule Change 2 - We have also added to the local rules that on the greens you will get relief from hoof prints. There has clearly been a lot of deer on the courses through the winter and it is only right that relief is received if your ball is lying in a hoof print. We will also allow you to repair the hoof marks if they are on your line of putt. Please note this rule only applies if your ball lies on the green.
Rule Change 3 - The third and final addition is with all the tree cutting being done, there are a lot of logs and greenkeeper workings that are piled for collection. This is actually covered by the Rules of Golf but for your ease we have made it clear that relief is received from these areas if your ball lies in or your stance in hindered by. Please note the areas that have actually been cleared are not GUR and despite the horrible situation you may be in, the ball is in play and a free drop is not an option.
Please all note that the new 2016 Rule Books are in now in the shop for collection.
It has been fantastic to see Rickie Fowler taking the start of the season by the scruff of the neck and showing his intentions to the 'Big 3', but it looks like he is having a week off this week during the very sociable AT&T at Pebble Beach. However, we do have the joys of Spieth and Day back in action and it is worth noting that a good showing from Day will put him back ahead of Rory for the world number 2 slot. It is also great to see Mickelson in good form of late and I would also expect the inform Snedeker to do well in this week's Pro-Am format.
Congratulations to Danny Willett who squeezed ahead of the chasing pack with a 'ballsy' birdie at the 72nd hole. The European Tour is back in South Africa this week allowing a few of the top boys to have a week off.
Well done to Will Pirie who won another Junior/Adult foursomes event with his dad Neil last weekend. Just like the pros above, Will has been working hard on his game these last six months and it is fantastic to see him coming back into form.
This weekend sees the Elite Team having a get together with the team being announced at the start of March along with the named A Team and Futures Team. The Girls Team is also taking shape and we hope to be able to bring you news on that in the next couple of weeks.
