The rain may be falling here and our golf game may be getting rusty but there was no such thing for Jordan Spieth at the weekend in Hawaii. There has been a lot of comparing him to Tiger in the sports news recently, especially with six victories in the last 12 months. We can now make that seven wins at the age of 22 and his most recent by eight shots from a field of 32 proven winners from 2015. As much as he is a rare talent and a fantastic golfing brain, the hype may be a little premature, however one thing is for sure - at the start of the season his game was ready. While everyone else was trying to find their game Spieth had his with him.
It is only 10 weeks before the clocks change and the season starts.
Will your game be ready?
Are you looking out the window and finding excuses not to be working on your game?
Why not fix those faults now?
Why not get a pre-season check up?
Or if you feel your game is good, are you 100% sure of your yardages?
Did you know that Calum can work on those with you?
With the GC2 launch monitor, Calum can factually tell you how far you carry each club. Why not book a 'gapping' session with Calum and get ready for the season ahead? If you really do not like the ground conditions or battling the elements on the range, with the GC2 launch monitor lessons can now be done efficiently in the nets. Stop looking for excuses and let us help you achieve your golfing goals. If it's a pre-season check up or a fault fixer that's needed, then let's not forget that Steve is available too.

Gym Challenge - Team "Chris, Will and Alana" have taken a demanding lead halfway through this month's Moves Challenge. So far, with 54 members participating in the challenge, team "Matt and Faye" are looking for more members to join their team and to help mount a comeback.
Nutrition Tip - As it's January, the usual thing to do for many is to start a new diet. There are many diets to choose from - intermittent fasting, weight-watchers, Atkins, Paleo etc - or many might simply choose a particular food or food group to cut out. When choosing a diet, you need to make sure it fits with your lifestyle and goals.
My Recommended Diet - All in moderation - Of course the key word is moderation and this is down to personal interpretation. However, for long-term health and well-being, I believe that no diet is better than this approach! It gives you freedom to eat what you like and the foods you enjoy, without demonising certain foods. Often, the only down side is finding a happy medium with moderation, which might take a bit of trial and error, but it will be worth it in the long run.
Members vs Staff Football
Following on from the previous year's success, we are looking to run this year's 7 a-side football match. It will be Staff vs Members held at broadfield 3G pitch towards the end of February. We will also have a qualified referee so it will all be very official. Afterwards we'll be looking to return to Cottesmore for some sociable drinks. If you would like to register your interest please speak to a member of the health club team, or email us at leisure@cottesmoregolf.co.uk.
If you do not want to play but wish to come along to watch, or join us at the bar afterwards, you're also more than welcome. The date will be confirmed once we have a better idea on numbers. Let the battle commence.
...and the rains kept coming. In case some of you have been so engrossed at work or have been away on holiday and not been aware of just how much rain has fallen, here is a picture of the pathway to the 17th Griffin green. Yes, the lake got a little big bigger!
But what has been happening on the courses is a lot of tree work (as well as clearing ditches etc). In the second photo above you can see the work on the 2nd Griffin tees. Similar clearing is being done on the 4th Griffin which will assist tremendously with speed of play as well as aeration and airflow.
